In the heart of Northeast Iowa are two communities that are joined together by city limit signs: Waterloo and Cedar Falls. One is known for John Deere plants and the other for the University of Northern Iowa. It is also the home of a women’s barbershop chorus that has remained active for almost 6 decades. Although its original name was changed some years ago, we are now Cedar Harmony Chorus of Sweet Adeline International. Our name comes from the area around us which is the Cedar Valley. Our members all reside in a fifty-mile radius around those cities. Our numbers are 30 + and the majority of us have been members for over twenty years.
Our lives are versatile and demanding but we have one factor that remains strong and constant. We love our music, our sisters in harmony and our director. That has kept us going for all these years but that is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to explaining what our music means to us.
We have pledged in our Mission Statement to create a cappella barbershop music through sisterhood that brings joy, touches hearts, and enriches lives through performances and competition.
Currently no rehearsals per COVID-19 restrictions. If you would like information regarding a visit to our rehearsal, email Peg at membership@cedarharmony.org
All our rehearsals are open to the public and to potential new members, so why not pay us a visit.
We rehearse every Monday evening at 7pm, at
Music Hill Studios
1509 Rainbow Drive
Waterloo, IA 50701
